Introduction
Do you end every walk with pockets full of “beautiful stones”? Turn them into a miniature domino set. A quick coat of paint plus a few simple dots makes a screen-free game you can play anywhere.

What you need
Smooth, flat stones (similar size)
Acrylic paint or paint pens (one light, one dark)
Fine brush or dotting tool/cotton bud
Pencil & ruler (optional for the centre line)
Non-toxic clear sealer (spray or brush-on, optional but makes them last longer)
Small drawstring bag or tin
How to make it
Pick and prep: Choose flat stones. Wash and dry them thoroughly.
Base coat: Paint each stone a solid light or dark colour. Let dry; add a second coat if needed.
Centre line: Lightly pencil a line across the middle; paint or draw over it (thin line).
Add the dots (pips): Using the contrasting colour, dot numbers from 0–6 on each half. Keep the dot layouts like classic dominoes (e.g. 1 = one centred dot, 5 = four corners + centre).
Dry and seal: Leave to dry completely. Seal with a child-safe clear coat for durability; allow to cure.
Pack and play: Pop them in a small bag. Match numbers end-to-end just like standard dominoes
How many stones to make
Quick travel set: double-4 (15 stones)
Classic set: double-6 (28 stones)
(Other options: double-3 = 10 stones, double-5 = 21 stones.)
